Dominique Coenen has studios in Amsterdam and in Belvès, in the south-west of France. She paints contemporary city life, often outdoors and on the spot.

Amsterdam street corners and cafés are her subject — Café Bouwman, a corner building in the late sun. What occupies her is the play of light and shadow in the street: the moment when an ordinary corner becomes briefly remarkable.

Dominique Coenen heeft ateliers in Amsterdam en in Belvès, in het zuidwesten van Frankrijk. Ze schildert het hedendaagse stadsleven, vaak buiten en ter plekke.
